3 Reasons Why 90% Of CEOs Procrastinate The Gym & How To Fix It

From here on out by reading this I’m going to unapologetically assume you’re a C-level executive.

Like I do to all of our clients I will speak unfiltered, the language of “harsh truths”.

The unfortunate reality is… The higher up the chain you sit the more people kiss your ass… And the less people tell you how it really is.

I’ll now make a second assumption that you’re unhappy with the way you look and feel.

You know you need the gym and a personal trainer but you’ve been putting it off.

Some of you for months, some years and some decades…

If what I say in the next 2 minutes resonates with you… DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

Enquire at 5 gyms or personal trainer, text your fittest friend and ask for help… stop being a f**king lazy sausage.

So, let’s get into the 3 reasons you’ve been procrastinating the gym:

1. I’m too busy right now.

Limiting belief: My health and fitness is NOT important enough to me to make it into my weekly schedule.

How to fix:
you must fundamentally understand that… YES you will have to sacrifice in other areas of your life to make time for fitness. You will have to take less meetings, you will have to book less client lunches and you will, in the short term, take time away from your work to work with a personal trainer.

BUT you’re an intelligent person… you realise that if Elon, Bezos and Brandson make time for it you too can schedule 3 hours in a 168 hour week.
Start small and commit.
The optimal number of personal training sessions we prescribe to our C-level clients is 3 per week… Really not that much.
The time you’re “losing” to fitness now will be time you gain back by having more energy in the long run to take on more work… Long term you win.

2. I’m not fit enough to go to the gym anymore.

Limiting belief: You believe there is a pre-requisite fitness level to begin training.

How to fix: you’re actually some what right here.
If you’ve not been to a gym in 10 years… F45 or Crossfit is a horrific idea.
But Personal Training is a perfect solution.
What you need to do is understand your options better.
Find something which makes you say… “that looks like something for my level”.
The truth is that now with so many options on the market there is something for every level. My advice is to go for Personal Training, it caters exactly to your needs no matter what level you’re at and I’d avoid anything in a medium to large group setting (4+ per session).

3. I can’t afford it right now.

Limiting belief: You’re unwilling to fork out $100+ per week… BUT you’re happy to spend $300 on booze and $500 on lunch.

How to fix: Look… most CEOs can afford a Personal Trainer, if not all.
I don’t even think you’re cheap.
What I believe, from all the clients we’ve worked with, is that you just don’t value it.
You haven’t in your mind managed to attribute a $ value to looking and feeling better.
So let me put some tangible numbers on this for you.

Let’s say you take 30 meetings a week… 6 per day.
Right now 50% of those meetings end up in new business for your company.
50% of those meetings also happen after 1pm.
Of the 50% of meetings that end up in new business/partnerships 90% of them happen in the meetings before 1pm… why?
Because after lunch your slow weak tired body can no longer operate at 100%.
Your brain slows down, you get foggy, your decision making process is compromised…You cannot fully utilise your problem solving skills to get the result you want.

Now watch this…
After 12 weeks of working with a personal trainer you’re healthier, fitter and more energetic.
This means you’re closing 20% better in meetings after 1pm.
20% of 15 meetings in a week is 3…
Which is 10% more per week…
Which compounds over time…

You see how this works?

Tell me what is a 10% increase in business worth to you?
