How to set yourself up for success after a boozy weekend

It’s Monday morning after a boozy weekend. Your head hurts yet is filled with countless bleak thoughts, maybe you are regretting the decisions you made, maybe you are anxious about going into work and presenting yourself properly in back-to-back meetings all day.

‘By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.’

Instead of retreating to the bedroom and calling in sick, change your mindset towards Mondays through preparing the day before. Don’t use Sunday as the day to kick your feet up and waste the entire day, plan ahead.

The personal trainers have an obligation to the members at Lockeroom that when they walk into the club, they will experience a top-quality session. As a team we seek to raise the standards through leading by example and aim to teach our members how to prepare accordingly so they have the best start to the week regardless of how many alcoholic beverages they may or may not have consumed.

So, consider a few ways about how you can best prepare yourself for the week ahead. For instance, maybe you could do some food-shopping and prepare your nutrient dense meals for the week ahead. Not only would this save time in the long run, but a 2017 study published in the International Journal of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity concluded that meal-planning and preparation inspires a healthier and more diverse diet. This can lead to better performance in the gym and help achieve your goals faster.

Maybe you can organize your wardrobe so you know exactly what you will wear every day at work. This can vary from putting a load of washing on, ironing your shirts for the week, or even something as simple as polishing your shoes. Presentation and dressing to impress at work can have benefits in itself according to a 2006 study in The Journal of Business and Psychology, such as positively impacting colleagues’ (including your boss) view of yourself, improving your chances at promotion, or even just emanating competence to complete strangers. After all, how often do you see someone like Jeff Bezos wear ripped jeans or a stained-shirt to work?

Lastly, kick-starting the week with exercise by booking into a personal training session or a gym class to ensure you are committed to starting your week off on the right foot. Vigorous exercises first thing on a Monday morning can mentally prepare you for the week ahead and shake off that weekend baggage. By pushing yourself on Monday and choosing to do one of the hardest things physically and mentally will ensure you instantly smash some goals and set the standard of how you want to shape your week ahead. So remember, never miss a Monday.

So next time you go out on the weekend, we urge you to plan ahead and use your Sunday productively

How you do anything, is how you do everything…

Just doing a few of these things will help you rebound from a big weekend and kick-start your week on a positive note.
